Thank You… Or Not.
What a surprise, I’m sure you’ll agree, that, at the start of an election year in which PR will make it very difficult for Labour local authorities to maintain no-overall-control, we are offered “below inflation increases” to the council tax. They expect us to believe that this is aВ “real result for the taxpayer”. It’s [...]

Coital Assistance Workers and Other Victims
I don’t get the opportunity to listen to the Today programme much anymore. Well, I don’t TAKE the opporunity at least. MY day starts with a phone call to the office at 10, then depending on how busy we are, training for a few hours from 11. Instead of getting up bright and early, making [...]

No Luck With Almeras
I seem to have very little luck when it comes to the unpretty, if cost-efficient, Nissan Almera.

(Bloody) Cyclists
The BBC are getting their knickers in a twist about cycle lanes and a changing of the working of the highway code relating to these lanes.

I find it hard to get excited about either side of the debate (motorists vs. cyclists). I am an occasional [...]

….And Another Thing
Bloody Dentists!
I know a couple of dentists (well in fact they are more of a dentist couple, actually, but that’s by-the-by), and I know that they live in a big house, and have a big car, and have a fabulous holiday at least once a season. I don’t think it’s outwith reason to think that [...]

Catching Up
As promised in an earlier post, a roundup of what i’ve been up to.
Dinner at the Parly: Rather nice way to spend a Monday evening. A friend invited Kasia and me to dinner in the members restaurant in the Scottish Parliament. Now, I realise that it seems that nearly everyone in Scotland has been for [...]

What a Wheeze (or any of a number of smoking related puns).
So, the national Parliament have followed the Scottish lead and voted through a ban on smoking in enclosed public places.
I’m not surprised, when you follow the trend around the world – USA, Australia, Ireland… – a ban of some shape or form on smoking is inevitable.
I started smoking when I was in my mid teens, [...]
