One blog, three readers, one plug…..

To those of my readers (hahah… the 3 of you!) who might be in Hampshire over July……
Check out my friend Rachael, who is appearing in Dumas’ “The Man in the Iron Mask” in an open-air production within the grounds of Mottisfont Abbey, Southampton.
I can testify to my dear friend’s wonderful acting abilities, I was privileged [...]

A feast for the eyes and a feast for the mind… anyone hungry?

Two of my favourite ‘celebrities’ are going to be together on the small screen.
Nigella Lawson will be interviewing Boris Johnson on her new show at the end of July.
Boris should be Prime Minister and Nigella should be Queen.
Of course, this means I will have to:
a) learn how to set the video recorder – it’s daytime [...]

Just bloody well grow up!

These anti-G8 so-called ‘anarchists’ really get my goat (in no small part because they seem to have a strange understanding of the fundamental ideology of anarchism…).
I am considering hibernating for the next couple of weeks. The fuss and nonsense surrounding the G8 summit is just going to be a nightmare.
Protesters complain about the money being [...]

I should stop doing things on impulse!

I don’t know what’s happened to me – I never used to be the impulsive sort! In the last month or two, though, i’ve started doing things on the spur of the moment. The first was saying ‘yes’ when I was asked if I wanted to cycle to Glasgow for Samaritans. Then, when out getting [...]

Carrom

On Friday I was at a dinner party at the home of a couple of friends. It was a really good evening, with great food (excellent Indian cooking from Lara!), lots of wine, and good company.
After dinner, the guests were introduced to a game which (you mark my words!) will be the next big craze!
Carrom!
It’s [...]

Relish!

On Friday I was given a recommendation for a ‘burger joint’. Not just any burger joint though. On the Royal Mile in Edinburgh there exists a gourmet burger bar, ‘Relish’.
Being a pesco-veggie (that’s ‘half-arsed-fish-eating-semi-veggie’ to you and I), I wasn’t tempted by the thought of a chunk of minced beef. They apparently do great veggie [...]

Inver-schneckie

Rental cars… aren’t they wonderful.
My boss and I had a meeting yesterday in Inverness, so we decided to hire a car to go there – it was the cheapest option (hey, it’s the voluntary sector!) compared to trains, private car, or bus and a hotel stay.
My boss drives a HUGE American station wagon, so is [...]

Oh, the irony.

You’ll never guess what I was doing last night? Hmm. Out on my bike again. This is becoming a bit of a ‘cycling blog’ – I am actually quite a lazy person, I don’t know where all of this energy is coming from!
I went out another little cycle up the Water of Leith to Juniper [...]
